Trump versus Desantis
Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are on a collision course, but who will win?
Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are set to face off in the Republican primaries. DeSantis just announced his candidacy on Twitter tonight and has filed his paperwork to run for president. So it’s official: Trump versus Desantis in 2024.
DeSantis’ Twitter announcement blows up in his face
Things haven’t started well for DeSantis, his announcement on Twitter ran into a bunch of glitches and he is being mocked all over the Internet because of it:
Ron DeSantis has been ridiculed online for his attempt to launch his presidential campaign on Twitter, with tech failures preventing the discussion with Elon Musk.
The launch was due to take place on Wednesday at 6pm Eastern Time.
Yet Twitter was unable to cope with the traffic, and the servers repeatedly crashed.
The event was initially delayed by several minutes, and when it began the audio frequently cut out.
Moderator David Sacks said so many people were trying to listen that it was 'melting the internet'.
By 6:30pm, the audio was down and DeSantis was yet to utter a word. They began again around 10 minutes later, with Sacks congratulating DeSantis for 'breaking the internet' and Musk saying it was refreshing not to have 'canned speeches and teleprompters - it's real.'
The internet erupted in mockery.
Still, I give him credit for trying something different. He could have done a typical snoozefest of an announcement in the usual cheesy rally environment, but he took a risk and it didn’t work out as he had hoped. Such things happen during campaigns, and how the candidate reacts to it gives voters some insight into his character.
Trump and Desantis: Different media strategies
DeSantis’ decision to announce on Twitter illustrates a big difference between him and Trump. DeSantis prefers to ignore or sidestep regime media and opt for alternative media to connect with voters. Trump, on the other hand, loves to go into the belly of the beast and fight it out with the biased presstitutes who work for the corporate wing of the GAE’s regime.
This contrast shows a marked difference in their personalities. Trump enjoys the combat and thrives on it, but DeSantis prefers a smoother road with less of a chance for a confrontation with presstitute regime loyalists. Which way is better? It seems to me that both approaches can work, though Trump’s desire for battle is more entertaining for viewers. Who wants to watch a squish interview with no fireworks?
Trump and DeSantis both suck
Anyway, which candidate is better? I’m not endorsing either candidate. The political power structure in the GAE is so corrupt that I doubt either of them will make a significant difference in changing anything, or in fixing any of the collapsing empire’s problems. So my attitude as to who gets the nomination can be summed up as follows: whatever.
Remember that in the GAE, if a president gets out of line with the real owners of the country, he is given the Trump Treatment. If he gets really out of line, he gets the JFK Treatment. So dampen any enthusiasm or expectations you have for either candidate.
That said, it should be an entertaining primary battle at the very least, but let me start here with a bit about DeSantis. According to Rich Baris (who I trust on this), DeSantis has been listening to the Bush/Romney wing of the party and it is they who are behind his candidacy.
That tells you all you need to know about him: if he gets the nomination it will be business as usual for the military-industrial complex, the neocons, and the rest of the scum and filth in DC. They see DeSantis as their only real hope to stop Trump and prevent another possible four years of him in the White House.
About all you can expect from Desantis is a few points scored against the woke communists on social issues. But those are likely to be minor and ephemeral, so I wouldn’t put much faith in him either way. He has been allowed a few victories in Florida to set him up as the anti-Trump, but is he ready to take on the CIA, FBI, and the rest of DC? Hardly, I think he’ll likely kiss their ass or get his ass kicked by them if he tries to do anything of significance.
As for Trump, he’s apparently about to be indicted because of the fake classified documents scandal:
Trump demands meeting with AG Merrick Garland 'as special counsel prepares to indict him over classified documents' and complains he's being treated unfairly compared to Hunter Biden
Former President Donald Trump posted the letter to his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, in which his lawyers claimed that he is 'being treated unfairly'
They asked for the meeting with AG Merrick Garland to discuss 'the ongoing injustice that is being perpetrated by your Special Counsel and his prosecutors'
Special Counsel Jack Smith is said to be nearing the end of his investigation
The charges are pure bullshit, as everybody already knows. But the woke communists seize every opportunity to try to destroy their opponents, and this situation is no exception to that rule. Trump should have expected this while he was in power and done everything he could then to destroy his enemies. Instead, he choked and now he’s being attacked relentlessly by them.
It will be a miracle if he’s not in prison by the time the primaries roll around next year.
Trump dominates current polls
Baris recently rattled off a bunch of polls where Trump is way ahead of DeSantis, and I don’t doubt that he is right. DeSantis has never been on the national stage and the last couple of months have shown that he is unready for that level of scrutiny. Whether he will regain his footing remains to be seen.
If I had to pick a winner right now, I’d say it will be Trump. His voters remain loyal to him despite his various betrayals of them, and nothing DeSantis has said or done has moved those voters into his camp. The opposite has happened since Trump has recently peeled off some of DeSantis’ voters.
But the primaries are still a long way off, and things can change quickly. With the Bush/Romney/McConnell money funnel behind him, DeSantis might gain traction at some point, but I wouldn’t bet on it. DeSantis has the charisma of a turnip, and I don’t see him being able to dislodge enough of Trump’s voters to stop him from getting the nomination again.
If, as I suspect, DeSantis ultimately goes down in flames then it will be one of the stupidest political career choices in history. Moreover, DeSantis will deserve such ignominy for being stupid enough to listen to the Bush/Romney/McConnell wing of the party in the first place. When have those scumbags ever been right about anything?
Who else will run in 2024?
Bear in mind though that none of this takes into account the effect of other candidates jumping into the race. The GOP establishment, corrupt and stupid as usual, will pull out all of the stops to prevent another Trump win. They may flood the field with candidates to try to peel enough voters away from Trump to open the door for a DeSantis win.
We aren’t going to have a clear idea until the entire field takes shape and we can see the numbers of each candidate. For the time being, however, it should be amusing to watch Trump and Desantis trying to gouge each other’s eyeballs out. Trump will certainly hammer DeSantis at every opportunity, and DeSantis had better realize that he cannot stay above the fray. He either fights back or Trump will roll right over him.
Let Trump and Desantis fight
I don’t care which one of them wins. I made my feelings clear about Trump in a recent post, and I don’t think any better of DeSantis. He comes across as just another puppet of the neocons, and I don’t see him doing much better than Trump in trying to handle the filth and scum in DC.
Still, we might be treated to a presidential version of King Kong versus Godzilla if Ron DeSantis has a pair of balls swinging between his legs. If that’s the case then the fireworks should start immediately, and it should all be wildly entertaining. If not then the Republican primary season will be a bore, and Trump is likely to win in a rout.
We’ll see, but in the meantime: Let them fight!
