Pope Leo XIV: Whither the new pope?
Will Pope Leo XIV be another anti-pope like Bergoglio? Or will he move the church in the right direction?
So I’m sure by now you know that there is a new pope: Pope Leo XIV. It is notable that he is the first American pope, but, to me, that is of little interest compared to where he will take the Catholic Church. Even if you are not a Catholic, the church is one of the most important institutions in the West. What it does, and who runs it, matters a great deal to the spiritual health of all Western nations.
I’ll skip the preliminaries and ask a simple yet profound question: Is Pope Leo XIV a woketard, or will he steer the church back to its true purpose and heritage?
Initial reactions were negative from two important voices among the laity: Ann Barnhardt and Taylor Marshall. Yes, I know some of you might not like them, but their commentary about the church is always interesting to me and worth reading.
Ann, as usual, pulled no punches and let her feelings be known shortly after the new pope was elected:
Taylor Marshall was not very enthusiastic in his initial reaction during a video on YouTube, but he, like me and so many others, is trying to find a silver lining in this new pope’s election. Here are some of his posts on X:
His comments about Leo XIV dressing properly as a pope are exemplified by this image, where Bergoglio refused to wear the proper papal vestments:
Bergoglio, BTW, is now Lucifer’s new toy. I hope he is enjoying his time down there.
Marshall finished with this optimistic post:
It was also notable that Pope Leo XIV spoke to the crowds in Latin:
So what are we to make of this new pope? I wish I knew for sure, but it is far too early to tell. I had hoped Cardinal Sarah would somehow become the new pope, but it was not meant to be, alas.
The cardinals seem to have picked someone much closer to the left side of the spectrum than to the right. However, I believe we should give the new pope some time to show his true colors. If he picks up where anti-pope Bergoglio left off, then he too will be an anti-pope. There have been other anti-popes long before Bergoglio showed up, and there will be more in the future, but the church is still here, and we should all take comfort from that fact, even if you are not Catholic.
I will be watching closely how he handles the Mass of the Ages, the one true mass that Bergoglio cracked down on and tried to suppress, despite the fact that it is one of the few reasons for young people to become Catholic. The so-called “Novus Ordo” abomination should be banned and replaced with the Mass of the Ages (the Latin Mass or Tridentine Mass for those of you who are not familiar with it).
The Mass of the Ages takes all who experience it out of their ordinary lives and brings them as close to God as any living human being can get. Bergoglio and his accomplices have done everything they can to destroy it, and now we must wait and see how this new pope handles it. If he continues to attempt to suppress it, then we will know he is an anti-pope.
We shall see in due course who this pope really is and where he will lead the church.🧐
Well this does not bode well, Ann had a point:
The alleged victims said in a statement that, under Prevosts's watch in 2022, the Diocese downplayed details and documentation of their allegations that it sent to the Vatican, intentionally preventing the church from taking action against the priests accused. They allege the church blew off their reports.
'The allegations that Prevost engaged in covering up abuse reports are particularly significant, since Prevost's current post as head of the Dicastery for Bishops oversees complaints and investigations of episcopal negligence in abuse cases around the world,' the Pillar wrote in a September 2024 article.
The outlet reported that Prevost had met with the accusers in April 2022, and encouraged them to take their case to the civil authorities while the church investigated.
That probe reportedly 'was shelved for lack of evidence and because the statute of limitations had expired'.
Other criticisms that Prevost overlooked sexual abuse stem from Chicago, where he grew up.
As reported by the Will County Gazette, which covers suburbs southwest of the city, Prevost allowed an Augustinian priest, Father James Ray, to live at the St. John Stone Friary in Hyde Park despite Ray having been yanked from ministering to the public nine years earlier because of accusations of sexually abusing minors.
Prevost apparently didn't notify the heads of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic school, an elementary school half a block from the friary because, the church said at the time, Ray was supposed to be closely monitored in the friary.

Popes pick their names for a reason, and this one picked Leo. Look up Leo XIII, pope from 1878-1903. He challenged the excesses of capitalism and spoke out for workers' rights. He was also the first pope selected after Italian Reunification, which destroyed the Papal States and the notion of the Church as a temporal power.
I'm an unabashed pagan, and I'm damned glad to see that old Catholic Church gone. The Church that Martin Luther stood against, the Church of the Inquisition, the Church of forced conversions, the Church that burned dissidents. The Church of the stupid Latin Mass that allowed priests to lie to their congregations about what the Bible actually said.
Get ready for more liberation theology. I welcome it, and the fact that this new pope is American will really be a poke in the eye to the powerful if he challenges them, and I hope he does.
I'm relieved Sarah was not nominated as Pope tbh, he was also a raging leftist but one who hides what he is. Had to do some digging on him, as he was a favourite among Americans (for some reason), he's not anti-immigration, and he's anti-lgb whatever but not particularly fond of Europeans and is in favour of keeping Muslims in Europe. He's pro-Great Replacement This goes against teachings, Scriptures and traditions of the Church which has always had Ordo Armoris at its heart.
So be warned Sarah is a wolf in sheep's clothing Morgthorak. He was the worst possible candidate, thankfully though he's too old legally to assume the responsibilities. Personally I was hoping for Archbishop Schneider, the biggest firebrand in Europe who wants total Remigration for Europe and the Commonwealth.
So a bullet was dodged, though Leo XIV could be a problem, the fact he chose the name Leo is encouraging. Leos have had a tendency to be bulldogs of the Faith, to undo undesirable reforms and to be in favour of stronger papacies.
