Elon recently beat a public retreat on the issue of H-1B visas. Has he learned his lesson, or is he blowing smoke up our asses? We'll find out after Trump takes office next month.
Until Freedom of Association is restored in this country, boycott as much of the system as possible. H1B is a disaster., nearly as much so as the Hart-Celler Act. The job fuckery has been going on since at least Bush the Lesser. Here's a pajeet's take on his co-ethnics:
If you want some nauseating fun, look up "Indian street food" on YouTube. I get the occasional Brahmin on an O-1 visa but we have enough sub-IQ people here without bringing in more 80 IQ retards.
Might be that there's good reason to remain hopeful, maybe Donald called him up and told him off? I'm glad that the year is ending on some measure of hope and joy. It is good.
I am open to reforming H1B to work as advertised, rather than as actually-exists. But deeply skeptical that will happen. Because it is working as intended, and if reformed to work as advertised, would be functionally useless. The simplest, cheapest and most net-positive move is to just get rid of it. Like so many other things people want to "reform" that are working as intended, not as advertised. Just get rid of it.
I agree with you. People let their voices be heard. We the people used to be able to sit in on policy meetings in our halls of government. The physical layers/ bureaucratic barrier have made this difficult for people to have actual visibility and a voice on policies that impact them.
Social media has given the public a voice again. We need to make sure that we keep it.
That was quite the shitstorm that Elon stirred up. And he backed down. Interesting, but what is far more important is that Trump voters refused to twist themselves into pretzels to justify him screwing them over even before he actually did it, like Obama voters did not all that long ago.

Yes, I saw that article on Zero Hedge a while back. An eye opener to be sure!

Fuck Elon and Vivek. Vivek should be in prison for his business dealings.
You summed it up well. 👍🏻

Public discussion and debate is healthy

A lot of Obama voters were terrified of being called a "racist." That's what kept their mouths closed. No such barrier exists with Trump.
They were. I remember 2009, the year Democrat voters were expected to fall both in love and in line. Most of them did, too.
I was hoping your poll about Elon would have an option for “no, he is blowing smoke up our asses” lol that’s the option I would pick
Yeah, that would have been a good idea for sure. 😂
Elon is sincere on accepting a surcharge for H-1Bs. How big a surcharge is still TBD.
