Elon Musk versus Donald Trump: Round 2

The Autist and Don the Con are at each other's throats again. Who will come out on top? We might have to wait until the 2026 election to find out!

If you haven’t been on X lately, you’ve missed some amusing posts by Elon Musk. He has been on the warpath about Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which I have dubbed the Big Beautiful Abomination or the Big Beautiful Bullshit Bill. Musk clearly shares my sentiments; here’s a sample of what he’s been saying:

Some people say that Musk is pissed because of the items in the bill that could hurt his businesses, and they are probably right. Elon’s protestations about the country’s debt do ring a bit hollow to me, too. However, when we have this sort of fun drama going on, it’s best not to look a gift horse in the mouth, right? 😉

Trump fires back at Elon

Trump, of course, could not let Elon’s posts pass without an immediate retaliation:

President Donald Trump said he is open to deporting Elon Musk and added an additional threat: turning DOGE - the agency Musk founded - against him.

Trump escalated his feud with world's richest man by threatening to have the Department of Government Efficiency 'eat Elon.' It comes after the duo had yet another social media spat that escalated with the president threatening to return Musk to his native South Africa.

'I don't know. We'll have to take a look,' the president told Daily Mail on Tuesday when asked about deporting Musk.

'We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon,' Trump added.

Trump had some words of warning for Musk on the matter.

'I don't think he should be playing that game with me,' he told reporters when he landed in Florida to tour a new migrant detention center.

And Trump posted this on Truth Social:

So you can tell that the bromance is long since over, and these men seem to utterly dislike each other. Given the heated rhetoric and rage coming from both sides, I don’t see this cooling down at all before the 2026 election.

The America Party

If it were anyone else, I’d write off the idea of a third party completely. However, Musk is not just another bloviating politician or interest group. He has the money to create another party and to fully fund it through the 2026 election. His cash also has the potential to bring in enough candidates to create a slate large enough to affect elections throughout the country.

Do I think Elon can take enough seats to have a formidable presence in Congress in 2026? No, I do not think so, but that is beside the point. All Elon has to do is siphon off enough MAGA voters to hand the House and/or the Senate to the Democrats. If he achieves that, Musk will have fulfilled his mission by paying Trump and the Republicans back for dumping him from the administration.

Remember that Elon is an autist, and when autists don’t get their way, they tend to throw tantrums. In Elon’s case, he has the money to back up his tantrums and to cause political mayhem for Trump and the Republicans. It was partly through Elon’s financial support that Trump won the White House back in 2024, so you should not doubt the power of Elon’s wallet.

Elon has a right to be angry

Frankly, I don’t blame Elon for being pissed at Trump and the Republicans. Musk went WAY out of his way in 2024 to help Trump by spending a ton of cash. Moreover, Musk’s businesses took a huge hit when angry woke trash attacked them and went on a rampage across the country, vandalizing Tesla cars and dealerships. Musk took a big risk to help Trump, and how did Trump repay him? He gave Musk the boot from his administration and sent him packing back to his businesses.

After that, Elon went quiet for a while, but as you can tell from his recent posts, he is back to involving himself in politics, and that might spell doom for Trump and the Republicans in 2026. I have no sympathy for Trump or the Republican Party because of what is in the Big Beautiful Bullshit bill.

Class warfare as the debt blows up

Frankly, my sympathies are not with Trump and the Republicans. They are lying through their teeth about the effects of the Big Beautiful Bullshit bill on the national debt, and anybody familiar with the situation knows it. The debt is already at a point where paying the interest on it is beginning to crowd out other spending, and Trump’s bill just adds fuel to the fire by pushing the country closer to a sovereign debt default.

Also, Trump gave the Republicans in the House too much leeway in how they designed his bill. He made no effort whatsoever to force them to make real cuts in anything, and he stupidly allowed them to go after Medicaid and SNAP in what has to be the most out-of-touch legislative decision in a generation or more.

Trump and the Republicans had a chance to make real cuts to the "defense" department and to let at least a portion of the tax cuts for the wealthy expire to help pay down the debt the country owes. Instead, they decided to go after SNAP and Medicaid and to screw over the poor people in the country.

Remember that there are many MAGA voters on Medicaid, and some are also on SNAP. So Trump stupidly allowed the Republicans in the House to attack part of his voter base by creating a new cycle of class warfare that is likely going to haunt Trump and the Republicans in 2026. What do you think those MAGA voters are going to do when their benefits are cut while hundreds of billions of dollars are funneled into the pockets of the wealthy and the military-industrial complex?

The 2026 election could be wild!

As I’ve pointed out before, when Trump isn’t on the ballot, Republican turnout always drops in elections. Now, on top of that, Trump is looking at losing a significant chunk of his base who depend on Medicaid and SNAP. Those voters are likely to either stay home or defect to the Democrats. And if Elon goes through with his threat and creates the America Party, then some MAGA voters are likely to vote for the new party. All of this is likely to mean an almost certain retaking of the House by the Democrats, and perhaps even the Senate.

In other words, we already have the making of a huge political mess in 2026. If it happens, Trump himself will suffer because the Democrats will impeach him five minutes after they take control of the House. His last two years as president will be miserable as they persecute him again as they did during his first term. And it all could have been avoided if he had not allowed the Republicans in the House to attack Medicaid and SNAP with ridiculous cuts while simultaneously enriching the MIC and wealthy people..

I know that some people like some of the provisions in the Big Beautiful Bullshit Bill, but there are too many poison pills that are also part of it. I would not be surprised if the bill fails, which will send Trump into an unholy rage, since he has invested a great deal of political capital in trying to get it passed. He and the Republicans will have eggs on their faces, and it will be a huge political embarrassment to them.

We’ll have to wait and see if the bill makes it to Trump’s desk, but if it somehow manages to pass and gets signed into law, then the 2026 election is going to be lit! Make some popcorn because that campaign is going to be FAR more entertaining than anyone expected when Trump became president again.
