Your reasons were largely the same as I talked to my mom today. The median home price in the Palisades is 3.5 million. These are the people that show up for the house fundraisers for Democrat politicians and fund the insanity. They supported the idiotic forestry policies that directly led to these fires.

I live in Montana where fire season is also a thing- a few years ago we had a big one in the hills behind our house, complete with helicopters w/ water baskets and planes dumping fire retardant. When the fire hit a patch of fuel (dry vegetation) it would literally explode, so much so that we were wondering if it hit gas/propane tanks or something. The firemen explained the cause to us. So it might be exploding EVs, or it may just be all the dried out vegetation the state (and landowners) refuses to clean up.
I'm on the East Coast so we usually don't have big dry patches. Thanks for the offering of an alternative solution. There is a crazy amount of dead brush in that area. It's a bit mind boggling that a permit is needed to clean up brush.
