In general, I would pretty much agree with a few caveats: 1) Women should have something like a Norplant implant for birth control, eliminating / reducing the need for forced abortions - we make soldiers get a ton of shots and vaccines before shipping out, so not too much difference, and 2) when you have boots on the ground, I want to make sure the average soldier can carry a wounded soldier out - I think most women would fail with this. Though given the way the ratio of front line troops and the number of support positions has grown exponentially over the last 50 years, there are many positions where women could serve honorably, with little reduction of battle ready troops. People enlist for many reasons, but they fight for their buddies and fellow soldiers at the end of the day.
Though for the love of God and mankind, can we PLEASE rule out all-female crews in naval commands - the last time that was tried there was a ship collision; if we have to lose soldiers, let’s let the enemy kill them rather than our own forces. In my own observation, large groups of women spend a lot of time backstabbing for power, rather than focusing on the goal. Certainly not every group of women react this way, but enough to shake your head at about it.
I like the Norplant idea, but some of them might have it removed somehow, so we'll need to get a top notch abortion team on standby in case they are needed. We cannot run the risk of inequality occurring if the women are excused from potentially being wounded or killed in combat. Such a thing would be a vile act of patriarchal oppression of female soldiers and must not be allowed to happen!
