I don't have a problem with Patel taking his oath on the Gita. If he considers it holy and won't dishonor his oath. If I had my rathers, I'd rather see people take oaths on a copy of the Constitution.

We've already seen people take oaths on the Bible and then turn around and betray those oaths.

Trump will have opportunity to exercise his leadership skills. Challenges will come from inside as well as outside the executive. No different than any other administration.

You point about Indians is well taken. Americans understand very little about the Indian social structure in general and Brahminism in particular.

Expand full comment

True, he must juggle the various personalities and people inside his administration. This will be a good test of those skills.

If you bring in strong willed people you get conflicts. That Trump is tolerating such conflicts indicates that Trump has grown as a leader.

The forces of freedom are not Borg.

It is good to keep in mind these agencies are still FULL of the predators and quislings used against Trump and his people—including the staff. If Patel

has decided to forgive his enemies and “get them on his side,” that is the sign of a rogue administrator.

I don't care for that slightly cross-eyed crackhead stare in his official picture. Makes him look a bit unhinged but I know looks can be deceiving.

I too will wait and see what he does before passing judgement.

Human nature is self-serving (naturally) and will never change – thus corruption will always exist in the government. What I’ve observed from the Indians I work with is that they don’t understand that while we Americans work hard, we also play hard – in pursuit of our own version of happiness. The play part seems to get lost in their understanding of why America became great.

Each daily DOGE dump reveals that federal corruption is beyond what most people believed possible (and we just got started). How many conservatives believe that we can resurrect the ideas of limited government through the 9th and 10th Amendments? But we need to ask ourselves how we got here in the first place. It failed us because human nature is self-serving.

That’s why we need to have a serious discussion about what we need in a federal government, since it will always be further away from our oversight. Aside from national defense, postal services & national parks, what do we need from a federal government?

Why not let each sovereign state create the government as their people see fit, mirroring the Articles of the Confederation (AOC), America’s original constitution that was supposed to be amended, originally. (And after federal funds go away, see how much the people want to pay for welfare, DEI, etc.). For example, Congress could be representatives and senators from each state, paid by each state, and not by the federal government, etc.) The AOC had no executive or judicial branch. Could the judicial branch be replaced by a 50 state tribunal system (sort of like the Swiss)?

Brutus, the “Anti-Federalist” who was a Real Federalist predicted all the corruption we see today due to the deficiencies he saw in the Constitution [i.e., standing armies create forever wars, congressional inaction, executive actions countering congressional inaction, judicial abuse of the Constitution by activist judges creating laws in defiance of Article 1, Sec. 1, growth of the unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch and their never-ending corruption from a government far away from the people, etc.] must be addressed for a country as big and diverse as America is now – especially now since Brutus’s thoughts on baron de Montesquieu’s ideas about what history tells us about larger republics that “cannot long subsist” due to diversity, size and human nature predicted everything we see today.

Maybe We the People need to review the wisdom of Brutus to start a debate on the deficiencies of the Constitution: https://lizlasorte.substack.com/p/captain-hindsight-to-the-rescue-brutus?r=76q58

If you read what it was all about, you would realize how wrong this article is. Patel, with Musk's knowledge, asked FBI agents to respond to Musk's email to him, Patel. The reason is that the work agents do is private and should not be publicly announced.

Thanks for the information, Susan. Do you have a link for Elon knowing about it? I looked at his TL on X but could not find anything. Thanks if you can post it as I will edit the article to include it as an update.

FYI I thought Musk went too far.

From a NYT article: Some Agencies Urge Staff Not to Comply With Musk’s Ultimatum

The F.B.I. director, Kash Patel, the director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, and others told employees not to respond to a directive from Mr. Musk to summarize their accomplishments.

“At the Justice Department and F.B.I., the threatening signals from Mr. Musk were met with a mix of anger and amazement that anyone would issue such a blanket demand without consideration for sensitive areas such as criminal investigations, legal confidentiality or grand jury material.

“Some law enforcement supervisors quickly told employees to wait for more guidance from managers on Monday before responding to the demand, according to current and former officials.”

I have either filled out my timesheet showing what I did each day or sent a weekly report/bi-weekly report in my 30+ years of working in a professional office. Proving accountability should always be required when working as an employee, but some types of work, like investigatory/enforcement type work, might be excluded for FOIA purposes. But, as a whole, it should be expected from every employee.

Darn, I cannot pin your comment. It must be because it's a reply.

The problem is that it is behind a paywall at the NYT. It did not say the exact words I used by the sentiment was there.

Just so you’ll know, I read your articles all the time and think you do a good job.

No worries, you got it right so I screenshotted it and put it up. Someone else posted another story via Apple News that said the same thing.

It appears that Elon has egg on his face, and so do I! 😉

He should but you should not. None of us get it right all the time. I admire your passion and that you are not afraid to say what you think.

Okay, thanks Susan. Looks like the situation was more complicated than I thought. I'll note it in the article and pin your comment so people coming into the discussion see it.

I don’t see what the issue is.

Kash is a Hindu; thus, he swears on the Gita instead of the Bible. That’s just normal behaviour on his part & for other Hindus.

As for the ‘Brown Judas’ stuff… MAGA leaders have never been opposed to legal migration. & illegal migration is simply a red herring:

Legal migration is the reason why the Great Replacement chugs along. Indians helped to elect Trump, so they expect him to ‘play nice’ with them…

This is why when Prime Minister Modi visited a few days ago, Trump jubilantly agreed to expand various Indian consulates & embassies nationwide after their bilateral talks concluded.

Hint: This means more students, permanent residents, etc, from India coming in for processing & whatnot in the coming months & years.

Politics is a game of Client-Patronage relations.

Indian Americans & Indians, in general, expect Donald to ‘pay up’… & that’s what he is doing by putting Patel in charge of the FBI, & by expanding Indian Embassies & Consulates nationwide.

This means millions & tens of millions of ‘citizens’ from India making landfall in the coming years & decades per these decisions.

There was no timeline in which this was ‘not going to happen.’

I’m also skeptical about Patel. However, given the significant uproar surrounding both Patel and now Deputy Director Bongino, it’s evident that there must be some level of fear for what they will do. Word has been spreading like chaff in the wind on X, as there have been numerous reports of FBI destruction of server evidence within the past 24 hours.

So, we’ll see I guess.

Very much enjoyed the article, friend! I also appreciate you playing devil’s advocate in your work. It helps us get to the bottom of things in the constant search for truth on a subject.

“I suspect that the FBI is about to turn brown in a big way.”

This looks like a Xanatos Gambit. Either:

1. Kash is for real, and now comes the pain.

2. Kash fills the FBI with nepotistic Indians until nothing gets done, and when it is done it feels like an ethnic jackboot to all targets.

Either way, the DNC NKVD model is dead.
