I'm Polish and completely agree. The antagonism by the Poles towards Russia seems to have been passed through the generations by virtue of "the type of people" the Russians are. It's comical and dehumanizing really. As if Russians were a different breed. I get that there is history but I don't think you can generalize that way. I see the same attitude towards the Germans and vice versa towards the Poles, so I don't think it's unique to the Poles.
Someday NATO will be gone from Europe, and all the old hatreds will come out again. It's inevitable. Europe is a cauldron of ethnic hate, and only the jack-boot of NATO on the throats of the Europeans has kept a lid on it, for the most part.
I'm not for NATO staying, I think it should have been gone long ago. But there will be consequences when it is finally disbanded as the Europeans can never get along with each other for very long.
I think there'll certainly be some old hatreds that resurface, such as the Italians hatred of the French, but that said some old rivalries have been forgotten with France & Greece allied, Germany being tired and used up, Poland wants slices of Germany, Spain & France are friendly but Spain looks like it's starting to splinter. Finland is standing taller and is looking irritably towards both Sweden and Russia, while Sweden despite having pretty good demographics sagging in defeat while Norway is looking stronger and stronger.
My 2 cents; France, Ireland, Greece & Austro-Hungary are the powers to beware of.

And then there is the evidence in Ukraine of the effectiveness of defensive lines including minefields and field fortifications, which have, evidently, been effective in halting advances by both sides.
No doubt diplomacy is the ideal manner of cooperating with neighbors, but Poland has had the unpleasant experience of being invaded, simultaneously, by both Russia and Germany. One can hardly blame Poland for not wanting to experience that again.
Defensive works surpass wishful thinking, significantly, in efficacy. However, they are, indeed, more costly.
Mines can slow the Russians down, but not stop them. They have mine clearance machines they use, and they will slowly but surely grind their way through mines.
Of course this is true, but a properly constituted minefield, or any other obstacle, is covered by fire, which can deal with vehicles attempting to cross the obstacle.
Sad thing is, Poland & Russia don't have the numbers to risk on such a meaningless conflict but as it is Russia has no next generation, and Poland doesn't either. Both nations are finished, if they don't do something drastic (that does not involve war).
One can only hope that OTAN/NATO ends alongside the EU long before Poland is colonized and destroyed, and hopefully Germany will rally and reverse her current downward trend revolutionize and save herself.
The levels of Russophobia among most EU leaders - honourable exception being Victor Orban, who is in his third term of office by presumably delivering on the will of the majority of Hungarians - is something to witness. Contrast this bug-eyed hysteria with the interview between Carlson and President Putin, or Jackson Hinkle with Maria Sakharova, and you see why this Ukraine situation is not getting resolved any time soon. On one side you get considered, sometimes lengthy and detailed pragmatic propositions and ideas. On the other side childish, shallow and frankly dangerous grandstanding filled with meaningless slogans and empty threats. Of course this is all wonderful for the Western MIC, which only gives a damn about Europe as long as it can supply weaponry and ammunition. I suspect there might even be people therein who are actively contemplating a "limited" nuke exchange being feasible as long as it stays "over there". Up until maybe the early 1990s there were politicians in Europe and the US who had experienced the horrors of war, and were very wary of even contemplating such thoughts except as an absolute last resort. Those people are long gone, and we have instead glove puppets who have no real-world experience of an actual job, let alone the horrible, brutal business of warfare. Terrifying. Thank God there seem to be some grown-ups on one side of the equation. I fully realise that the Russian leadership has its own geopolitical agendas which are not necessarily wholesome in every aspect. But anyone who is looking out for their own national interests is inevitably going to come into difficulties when it does not coincide with another country's national interests. These things always involve compromise. Which is something completely off the table from NATO's point of view, it seems.

There will come a time when Poland needs food, fuel, and friends, and Russia will be the only place where those things can be found.
