Watched it. Loved it. For pretty much the reasons you posit. Fun, funny, action-packed fan service fest that knows exactly what it is and mocks even that with irreverent glee, and yet still manages to find an emotional grounding in the key characters when it needs too.

Enjoyed first Deapool, wasn't that keen on the sequel, but this was a cheer and laugh-out-loud good time at the theater if you have any affinity for the genre and characters.

Apparently, Reynolds fought behind the scenes to fend off a lot of the wokeness and make some of the fucking EPIC CAMEOS happen (I won't spoil 'em), so good on him. I've rewatched The Proposal, twice, and signed up for Mint Mobile, twice, in solidarity with our brave Canadian brother and Marvel Jesus.

Excellent comment, thanks for posting it. The part about Reynolds fighting off the woke commies is particularly interesting. He knows his market and content, so good for him for protecting it from their ideology. Smart dude.

Always a pleasure, my friend. Thank you for sharing another great article!

And totally agree about Reynolds. I think with his sense of humor and personality he genuinely bristles at the woke corpo attempts to castrate a series and a character he has invested so much of himself in.

Obviously, if people don't dig the genre and his take on it, then the film ain't for them, all good. But for people who do, it is not only a great time, but also (kinda like with Top Gun Maverick) a way to show ‘em what kinda films we do want and will support, i.e., good ones that dont clobber us with The Message™ haha

I thoroughly enjoyed Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds plays this character to perfection.

Very true, I don't think anybody else could pull it off the way that he does.

My grandson introduced me to Deadpool. I just shared your article with him. He’s 22, an electrician, and he’ll be in synch with everything you say. He may go with his fiancé but if not I’d love to go with him to see it.

I'll watch it when it's available for streaming. Very much enjoyed the first two Deadpool movies.

option 4 on the survey: I'll watch it once it is either free or pirated at adequate quality.

And another thing, Mr. Cranky Anti-Comics Curmudgeon, did you watch any of the trailers? You might actually get a laugh or two and lighten up!

BTW I've listened to classical music since childhood. But I prefer science fiction over the boring navel gazing and tedious deep dives into mundanity that the authorities consider "Literature."

The Adam West version of "Batman" had some of the best social commentary ever broadcast on TV.

Well there, MR. COMPLAINER, I noticed that you bitched in the comments but couldn't be bothered to take the poll and select the "No" option as to whether or not you would see the film. 🧐 😂

Hell I’m 64 and still have comics. A few Batmans still in original plastic, unopened.

And I colour and splash in puddles and watch Road Runner and build LEGO sets. If growing up means getting cranky, I ain’t doin’ it.

Good call Morg. Another on my watch list. Gonna hafta binge thru the old bunch to get caught up. (Soon as I’m done BSG and the Marvels…again)
