Nintendo has resisted the feminist attempt to make all female video game characters obese, ugly and misshapen. Princess Peach: Showtime! reminds us of what female video game characters used to be like
Omega Wave Feminists and Soy Boys (not to be confused with Mario's less dangerous enemy: Shy Guys) ruin everything they touch. They need to be swept out of any positions of influence and herded back into their fanfic-papered cages.
And for what it's worth, Peach had a cool balance anyway, going back to at least Mario RPG, if not (U.S.) Mario 2. She was dainty, regal, pretty, demure... all of these wonderfully feminine, princess qualities, but at the same time, in a pinch, if she had to chuck some turnips at Birdo or smash a goomba upside his head with a frying pan to defend her kingdom or her man, she would do her best. It wasn't her forte or first choice though--she wasn't some Mario Movie halberd-wielding warrior--and just as her heroine's journey was choosing the right hero, trusting and inspiring him to rise to the occasion, she allowed Mario to traverse his trap-laden hero's journey as well, proving to her (and himself) that her faith in a fat, mustachioed madman was warranted.
Not to mention, as much as love Toad (my favorite Mario character), keeping a kingdom full of those goofy, shrieking little toadstool people running requires some serious administrative aptitude, which the wokesters also never give her any credit for. In a way, it is fascinating that for all of their rabid shrieking about the Lovecraftian horror of "toxic masculinity" and "muh patriarchy," the wokesters only value male mythic structures, values, and displays of strength in women, desperately trying to (sometimes figuratively, sometimes literally) sew phalli onto female characters in some perverse, forced, fictional "transition."
Exactly right, they want women to be men! I noticed that too, the only kind of strength that they respect is masculine, as opposed to feminine strength. Excellent point!
Yes, Nintendo has kept Peach perfectly balanced and prevented her from becoming a Xena-wannabe. She is feminine, but she can also kick ass when necessary, in a feminine way.
Feminism defiled all the good female characters. Look what they did to beautiful Jill Valentine! Turned her into a goddamn lesbian goblin. Shame. Least we still have Peach.
I think Princess Peach is feminine because Nintendo is a Japanese company.
In most Japanese manga, cartoons, or anything not (live action) women are nearly always depicted as busty and cute, sometimes with the added feature of giggly. But always VERY feminine.
I think the other games are made by a bunch of incels and fruitcakes. Why would you make women ugly and annoying? What's the purpose of that? With art, people are creating their own world, so to speak. Who designs their own world like that?
I know one thing. There's more men who wish they had a time machine right about now, because women have been taught for decades to hate men. It's as if the Lifetime Channel were real life!
People who hate women, femininity, the world, and themselves. If the "art" itself doesn't adequately demonstrate that, just listen to them talk for five minutes.
One, child me would be OBSESSED with this. Like, everyone around me would be tired of hearing about this game, especially my parents, because I wouldn't have been able to shut up about it hahaha. I was obsessed with theater and costumes (hell, I grew up to work in film and Off-Broadway shows), and Peach was my FAVORITE fictional character. I was her for Halloween when I was 10 or 11. I can't even explain why I liked her so much, but she just has this whimsical, fun quality about her while also being regal and elegant. I loved that vibe! Holy shit. I need to buy a Nintendo Switch and this game for my inner 10-year-old hahaha. The Mermaid Peach look is exactly like something I drew when I was a kid.
Two, I think Japanese companies tend to generally have more beautiful character designs. Ironically enough, some of the more beautiful, feminine photos of me taken in the 2010s were me cosplaying as Cloud Strife wearing his Wall Market dress lol. The *male* characters are that pretty lol. When I cosplayed Rydia from Final Fantasy IV, that look was so distracting it almost caused traffic accidents in Times Square from people staring.
Three, HOLY CRAP the cosplay for this game is going to be amazing. Like, any lady cosplayer could get all her friends together and do a Peach squad with all the different costumes in this one. It's on a level with FF X-2 or Disney princesses for ultra-femme group cosplay ideas. I'm going to start talking people into this for Colossalcon North or something (swimsuit versions of these outfits, anyone?) I'm excited :D
Platformers are not really my cup of tea, but I dig that they stayed true to the character and the whole Mario franchise. Probably a pass for me, but good on Nintendo.
Why do culture product companies succumb to this toxic commie hating ideology? B/c the left will embrace literally any fringe unpopular elements of popular culture that are seen to oppose a predominant human preference. So homosexuality is deemed oppositiona to majority sexuality, & thus is celebrated. Ditto lesbianism. Ditto any unhealthy alternative to 'family'. Christianity of course is trashed & Satanism (& the twisted destructive horror show that comes with that).
Female beauty is deemed part of the dominant patriarchal preference, so the gutless game companies make their female characters ugly, loud, swearing, ie. masculine in order to be oppositional. This is all very transparently obtuse, cowardly, & destructive. I can see wokist commie ideology requiring male protagonists to be fully oppositional: ie. a neutered or gay, dishonest, dishonorable, atheist, satanic junkie, etc. It becomes very predictable. Note how unoriginal &:easily led & controlled the left is.
These are the idiot buffoonish clowns we're fighting. 👄
I still play videogames. I have noticed this trend as well. I have PS5, but I have been considering trying Nintendo again. For a very beautiful PS5 game with zero propaganda I recommend Ghosts of Tsushima. Another game I love is Dreams. The game itself a game creator and entire game world all in one. There are so many games to choose from and some are shockingly good.
And one more thing: why would women even be into ugly character designs? Whimsical, weird, unconventional-- yes. Like I'll cosplay Lumpy Space Princess because even though she's not "pretty" in a conventional sense, her character design is still cute and can be interpreted in fun ways for cosplay. Straight up ugly. though? Why? When I cosplay, I want to feel pretty. That's kind of the point. If I wanted to just be comfortable, I'd show up wearing a t-shirt and and baggy pants instead of taking the time and effort to put together a cosplay. Even when I do the "trousers role" thing and cosplay as Link, I still set my hair and wear makeup. I don't know who the ugly designs are for if they're not fun for women and girls to emulate and they're not fun for boys and men to look at. Even girls who are "plain" looking want to wear costumes that emulate really beautiful characters. I'm a feminist in many ways-- I think women should have a wide variety of career opportunities, I think more of us should be in charge, I think we need to have strong boundaries in our relationships with men, I'm pro-choice, etc. And I still love doing ultra-femme costumes.

LOL when I was 10 years old, I seriously wanted to be like Princess Peach when I grew up. She's so cool.
She is! Peach is a great character and inspiration. And loved her in all the Mario sports games too; she has a mean backhand.
Feminism defiled all the good female characters. Look what they did to beautiful Jill Valentine! Turned her into a goddamn lesbian goblin. Shame. Least we still have Peach.
I know, so many of them are hideous now. But Peach is selling like hotcakes, so I'm sure some game companies will notice it.
I know we've discussed this before, but I totally agree haha. I'll never forgive Capcom for goblinizing our girl Jill, the master of locking.
The OG Sandwich Queen.

Yeah, Japanese designs for all characters are just more fun and whimsical. I'm as feminist as they get, and I prefer Japanese video game designs lol.
Princess Peach: “Anything you can do I can do better. And in heels.”
Kudos to Nintendo!
That's a great way of putting it! 😂
I have a few thoughts on this:

A war I have been losing professionally for nearly 2 decades, but it ain’t over
Platformers are not really my cup of tea, but I dig that they stayed true to the character and the whole Mario franchise. Probably a pass for me, but good on Nintendo.
I’m playing Spider-Man 2 and MJ is butt ugly this time around.
At least you know the Japanese will hopefully push back against it.

This is hilarious
