A coincidence no doubt as I have just unsubscribed from a few writers as I felt guilty in reading their posts while being unable to subscribe or offer any financial support, thinking to myself, the author will be thinking wtf 🤬

So many great writers here and so easy to click that you like and you subscribe but when you then start reading story after story about how bad it is you , as an unpaying reader, feel terrible.

Do not feel bad at all, David! Not everybody has the money for a paid sub, but that does not mean that you don't have value to the writer. You can comment on articles or share them, and that helps writers too. It's not just about money.

If you are have a free sub to my substack, let me know. I will comp you so you don't have to pay for anything. I always comp people as I understand that these are hard times for many. So no worries there.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment here, I hope other writers see it.

Ha Ha! I hit 799, then it was 796, then it was 798, then it was 796, now it's back at 798, lol.

Still haven't seen an email, even though I turned that feature on recently. I was just curious.

Maybe the email thing is FUBAR right now? I haven't tried it on mine after I turned it off.

I am also swamped with substack emails, and I hardly check them anyway, so whatever.

Do you mean subs? You can unsubscribe and they still show up in your inbox in the app and website. Helps to clear the email clutter.

I can't blame them, there are so many knobs and buttons in the substack controls, it's hard to know where to turn them off. It's taken me a while to get used to all of it.
